The Sony F828 is a rarity in this age of rapid change in digital camera. Instant depreciation in value is the norm. But the F828 has perform rather nicely 2 years later and still pretty competive with the current crop 8 mp cameras. The new replacement from sony is not better. Its lense has smaller maximum aperture. The F828 is good becuase it has many advanced features:
- Its CMOS chip has an extra green photosensor, a Sony only. Since human eye can see green better than any color, this make sensor.
- Its lense is a Carl Zeiss T* 2-2.8 28-200
- Good sturdy magnesium body. Mine got bang up pretty when I fell of my motorcycle. Lense hood and the rim was completely gone. $150 repair and it's as good as new.
Digital cameras generally are not good at flash photography. It's always too hot. The F828 with its built-in flash is pretty dismal like all them. So I was presently suprise at the result I got with using the HVL-F32X flash light.

It's only $120.00 and fully compatible with the F828.
The following two pictures are taken with the flash. It's especially good at bouce flash. All automatic. But the flash has only huge problem: flash charge cycle is very long :(. Can't do fast pace shoot.

This is taken with the built=in flash:

The only thing keeping this great camera from being a professional camera is it's just too daun slow and the mode dial interface is clumsy.
